Management Board of Eurex Deutschland

As the executive body of Eurex Deutschland, an entity under public law, the Management Board is responsible for all tasks not expressly assigned to other exchange bodies. The legal foundations for the activities of the Management Board are anchored in the Stock Exchange Act. In accordance with its provisions, the Management Board is responsible for managing Eurex Deutschland.

In line with the organisation model of a German stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft) the management board of Eurex Deutschland is responsible for managing the exchange, whereas the Exchange Council is the responsible body for controlling and regulation. The management board of Eurex Deutschland is responsible for managing the public services of an exchange and ensures that exchange-relevant laws, ordinances, standard terms and conditions and other regulations are implemented and complied with accordingly. In this context, it may assign responsibility for the carrying out of these tasks to other persons.

Thomas Book


Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurex Frankfurt AG

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Thomas Book is one of the pioneers in the field of electronic trading. Having joined Deutsche B?rse Group in 1995, he was part of the team that rolled out DTB‘s remote membership concept across Europe and the US. During this time, he was able to gain deep insights into the trading business and the importance of innovation and technology for an exchange.?

Thomas also was part of the project that founded Eurex, the first of its kind cross border exchange merger of DTB and Soffex. In 2001, he rounded off his profound industry knowledge with a Ph. D. thesis on "Electronic exchange trading and global markets".?

Prior to being appointed CEO of Eurex Exchange in 2016, Thomas shaped Deutsche B?rse‘s clearing business for many years. Appointed to the Eurex Board in 2007, he was Head of Clearing until 2014. In 2013, he assumed the role as CEO of Eurex Clearing AG which he held until 2016. As of 1 July 2018, Thomas was appointed as Member of the Executive Board, Deutsche B?rse AG, responsible for Trading & Clearing.

Thomas is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of European Energy Exchange AG as well as member of the Supervisory Board of 360 Treasury Systems AG and of China Europe International Exchange AG.


Erik Tim Müller

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurex Clearing AG

Erik Tim Müller, CEO of Eurex Clearing AG, has over 20 years of experience in Capital Markets and is a member of the Executive Board of Eurex Clearing AG since April 2013. He is also a member of the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland.

As Managing Director of Deutsche B?rse Group, he has been previously responsible for Corporate Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for many years. Since the IPO of Deutsche B?rse in 2001, Erik Tim Müller has been a manager of Deutsche B?rse Group. He has been responsible for Group Treasury and Investor Relations, including all treasury activities of the two bank licensed businesses of Deutsche B?rse Group, Eurex Clearing in Frankfurt/Main and Clearstream in Luxembourg since 2008.

He was a member of the Supervisory Board of Eurex Clearing AG from October 2010 until March 2013. He holds a dual degree MBA from Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and the Fuqua Business School in North Carolina, USA.

Michael Peters

Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurex Frankfurt AG

Michael Peters is Deputy CEO of Eurex Frankfurt AG since February 2016. He has been a member of the Executive Boards of Eurex Frankfurt AG. He is also a member of the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland.

As a Board Member, Mr. Peters is responsible for derivatives business development, which includes strategic initiatives, market development for Asia and Middle East as well as pricing policy.

From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Peters worked at OMX AB in Stockholm as Head of Projects as well as for Strategic Initiatives. Besides important projects for exchange and clearing organizations in the U.S. and Asia/Pacific, his duties included the evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives for the next generation of trading and clearing systems.

From 2000 to 2001, he was Managing Director of Trading Technologies in Frankfurt and Chicago, responsible for Business Development. From 1991 to 2000, Mr. Peters held various management positions within Deutsche B?rse and Eurex, as well as Deutsche Terminb?rse (DTB), a predecessor of Eurex. From March 2006 until March 2013 he was a Member of the Executive Board of Eurex Clearing AG.

Randolf Roth

Member of the Executive Boards of Eurex Frankfurt AG

In April 2016, Randolf Roth was appointed to the Managing Board of Eurex Frankfurt AG where he is responsible for Eurex Market Design. He is also a member of the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland since July 2016.

Until February 2016 Randolf Roth served as CEO two related companies: Zimory GmbH and Deutsche B?rse Cloud Exchange AG. Previously, between 1999 - 2014, he had already been working for Eurex in London, Chicago and Frankfurt in a number of roles including Head of Strategy and Head of Market Structure.

Until June 2016 Randolf Roth was member of the Supervisory Board of EEX AG. In 1999, Randolf Roth received his PhD in Financial Engineering from Technische Universit?t Dresden.

Wolfgang Eholzer


Member of the Executive Boards of Eurex Frankfurt AG / Member of the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland

Dr. Wolfgang Eholzer, who has more than 20 years of industry experience in Exchange Technology, is CTO of Eurex Frankfurt AG since January 2019. He is also a member of the Management Board of Eurex Deutschland.

As a Board Member, Dr. Eholzer is responsible for derivatives trading IT and, in particular, for the IT strategy as well as the development and technical operation of Eurex Frankfurt AGs trading system T7.

In 2007, Dr. Eholzer joined Eurex Frankfurt AG heading the Eurex Trading Technology Roadmap which resulted in the delivery of the high speed trading interfaces for order management and market data. In addition, he is responsible for Eurex Frankfurt AG’s performance monitoring and capacity planning as well as for the development and technical operations of T7 trading system.

Before joining Eurex Frankfurt AG in 2007, Dr. Eholzer worked for Deutsche B?rse Group in the IT delivery organization from 1998 to 2007.

From 1995 to 1998 Dr. Eholzer spent two and a half years with Cambridge University, U.K., as a research associate at DAMTP (Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics) after having received his PhD in Mathematical Physics from Universit?t of Bonn in 1995.


Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland

The Exchange Council is a key forum for discussing fundamental issues and developments at Eurex Deutschland.

The Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland has at most 18 members, who are elected for a term of three years. The acting Exchange Council was elected on 1 December 2016 and began the term of office with the constituent meeting on 25 January 2017.
